This section of the Russian River is just over an hour north of San Francisco, yet somehow feels infinitely far away. With its location just outside the coastal fog belt, the climate here is warm and dry. For swimming, we like to wade around Johnson’s Beach, where a wide sandy beach allows easy entry. Giant sturgeons glide past, friendly ducks appear at your side looking for food, and vultures sail overhead. The woodland setting is a soothing balm for all.
